Who is Leila, you are asking yourself? I suggest you read this post, introducing Leila before you continue reading this post.
I am traveling into my unknown past using the landmarks I have found in my inventory. I have a lot of landmarks. Leila’s story will potentially fill the travel category of this blog, giving you a lot of inspiration for your own exploration of the Second Life grid.
But first things first: I needed to clean up those landmarks.
Second Life changes fast. Places open and places close. So my very first job was getting rid of all outdated landmarks.
That eliminated about one-third of the places to visit.
I realized that a substantial amount of remaining places are shops. That didn’t surprise me, knowing the size of my inventory.
First stop: CALAS GALADHON PARK
This is an amazing park landscape. It spreads over 12 regions. You can get lost in lush forests and meadows, a paradise for photographers.
You can also rez horses there and explore the region by horse, they even have tracks for that.
To get an idea about the beauty of the place, I did make you some photos, but to really get a feel for the place I strongly recommend going there and doing some hiking or horseback riding to explore the regions.
Meeting Roy at The CALAS GALADHON PARK Cafe
On one of the 12 regions, you can find a small urban part, featuring a very pretty little cafe. That’s where I took a rest after exploring those forests.
At first, I thought I am the only one there but then I saw that guy sitting outside on the terrace sipping on his coffee.
I am not a shy one. I decided to go outside and join him.
We got into an interesting conversation. Roy is a Second Life veteran for many years. For most of his time in Second Life, he used to work as a host.
Host do greetings and moderation of events at music clubs and similar events. He has done that for friggin 11 years, every day for many hours.
Last year he decided to retire from hosting. He lives now a Second Life as a retired man. All-day, every day.
That actually includes feeding ducks. No joking.
It is new to him, a new role yet to be discovered. I realized Roy has that in common with me (as Leila) and I told him my story. Both try to find our new purpose, our new story.
We decided to go exploring together and see where it takes us.
I asked him what his favorite places are in Second Life nowadays. He likes beaches, adult beaches to be exact. Not only for the scenery but also for adult activities.
Sounds like we have yet another common interest. More about that in my next post.
Stay tuned.
Leila
