In part 1 of Second Life Jobs or How how to Make Money in Second Life I showed you my efforts to find a job.
It didn’t work that well.
To date, I am still waiting for that interview with a real estate company that really sounded extremely interesting.
I did do a follow-up and got told they are very busy at the moment and will come back to me as soon as possible.
Fair enough, that means it is still an option.
In the meantime, I tried something different. At one of the Takeda Media projects, we are looking for staff. We are looking for hotel receptionists.
I am trying different jobs and writing about them for you. So why not try out the job myself first? That gives me and you insights into what really to expect from the job.
Said and done. I am the new receptionist at Candy’s all-inclusive sex hotel.
Basically, it’s a sales job. I give visitors a tour of the hotel, and explain to them what it’s all about. I answer questions and try to convince them to join the group.
Sex is not part of the job description. That is another job called “Sex-Waitress” (we are looking for those as well).
However, I found it helps a lot to dress sexy. Not too much. Not slutty. Remember I am the receptionist, not a sex worker.
Sounds easy, doesn’t it?
Not really. You need to get visitors in the first place. Yes, we do advertising campaigns, and part of the job is getting clients yourself.
The way I did it was this: I joined sex-related Second Life groups. Here are some of the groups worthwhile joining as a receptionist:

No, I did not post blunt promotion posts.
Why not?
Because it doesn’t work.
Instead, I joined chat or initiated a conversation. Some of the participants will look at your profile (make sure you have the hotel in your picks!) and some IM you. Those are your potential clients.
Very often they will ask you questions like:
“What are you doing?”, or “where are you?” or even “looking for some fun?”
That is where the sales pitch starts.
My typical answer to those questions is this:
“At the moment I am working at the reception of Candy’s all-inclusive sex hotel, I just started my shift, but I don’t have much to do.”
This makes them curious. They start enquiring what it is all about. Now you invite them over, pass them a notecard that explains the concept and you give the tour.
The bar, the SPA, a hotel room, the shop, and every part of the tour you explain the benefits. At one point, typically when explaining the tip jars, you pass them another notecard entitled “What is a good tip”.
At the end of the tour, you take the client back to reception and simply explain how to join the group.
They did get a notecard at the beginning of the tour, so they already know that joining the group costs 2000 L$. The tour justifies the price, as long as you explained well enough what is included.
Most important feature: Sex with the waitress and sex room service are included and all the girls working at the bar and those listed on the board in reception are available for sex.
I love it when they ask at the end: “If was joining, can I have sex with you as well?”
Here is the standard answer to this:
“I am just the receptionist. I just do the tours and help people to join. But we really have some super-attractive ladies working here. If you want, we can teleport to the gallery on the ground where we have a photo exhibition of our girls. There you can choose from the ones online and get in contact straight away.”
No, sex with the guest is not part of the job description, but it’s not prohibited.
Hence I answer the question like this:
“Normally it’s not part of my job. But at the moment none of the girls is available anyway, I guess I could make an exception and stand in. If I would have sex with you, would you join today?”
That one really works well. This is where looking hot and dressing sexy pays off.
My closing percentage on this line is almost 100%.
Once he signed up, I do the deed of course, and every time I got a nice tip. Obviously, you need to log in to the tip jar. This gives them a subtle hint that you hope for a tip.
Apart from tips (you keep 80%), receptionists get a share of the joining fee. Not only from my own sales but from all sales made by any staff member. We share the revenues once a week automatically.
Time schedule? At your convenience.
Amount of hours you are required to work: As you wish.
There is just one little catch: For the company sharing revenues with you, they expect at least 2 sales a week from you.
It’s doable. I did it. I did even more and made some really good money at the hotel, but that is the topic of the next post.
