After years of roaming the Second Life grid with several different accounts and characters, I finally decided to try an Open Sims grid.
One of the characters (Sheraka) was invited to join and give it a shot.
Why Darkheart’s Playground Gained More Popularity
Do you remember my post about Linden’s crackdown on nude child avatars?
In a nutshell, Child avatars are now prohibited from being fully nude and are not allowed in adult-rated regions and regions where nudity is allowed or to be expected.
The new policy led to the closure of many so-called “nude family beaches” and to an exodus of age players out of Second Life.
The reasons are obvious: Those so-called family beaches were pickup places for age play and incest play.
As far as I know, there is only one place left where people can mingle to find players with child avatars for sex: The family swimming pool.
But the pedophiles found a new place to go: The DarkHeart’s Playground, an OpenSim grid. They call themselves “the most inclusive grid,” whatever that means.
The rules and policies of Second Life do not apply at Darkhearts’s Playground. Opensim has nothing to do with Second Life, although it can be visited with the same viewers.
What is OpenSim?
Here is the answer from ChatGpt:
“The virtual grid called OpenSimulator (often abbreviated as OpenSim) is an open-source server platform for creating and hosting virtual worlds. It is often used as an alternative to platforms like Second Life, offering users the flexibility to build, simulate, and customize virtual environments for various purposes, including education, business, entertainment, and research”.
Anyone can own and operate their own version of Second Life and host it on dedicated servers. Using the OpenSim software and hosting, it is actually surprisingly cheap to host a virtual world.
Darkheart’s Playground rents out entire regions for as little as 15 USD per month.
So far, it’s so good. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Darkheart’s Playground Policy on Restricted Content
According to their legal page on their website, content involving non-consensual pornography (i.e., minors) is not allowed.
Also, interactions between players require explicit consent.
Here, it gets tricky.
What falls under content is not explicitly defined. Is it pictures, or does this also apply to sexual interactions between users?
The requirement of having explicit consent for such interaction does not explicitly state that sex with avatars depicting a child is prohibited.
It is even debatable if such interactions are illegal when the actual players are both adults.
Creating, owning, or distributing images of such actions is a criminal offense, at least in the US and in Germany.
Does that mean you can do it in private as long as you don’t take pictures? I don’t know. Are there any legal eagles amongst my readers who can shed some light on this? Feel free to comment.
Nude Child Avatars in Darkheart’s Playground
Nude child avatars are not only allowed but also encouraged in some places. It is no problem for a nude child avatar to visit adult-themed locations.
Do they have sex? Yes, of course, they do. I can’t show you images of that for obvious reasons.
This is the reason many Second Life perverts moved to Darkheart’s Playground.
I potentially opened a can of worms with this post, and there is more to come. My next post will be about heavy copyright infringements in OpenSim grids.
Please feel free to comment.
