Alexandra | Getting Started at Second Life Woodcrest University

Moving to a new town is always exciting and scary. That is how I felt when I boarded the train to Woodcrest.

It wasn’t a long ride anyway. Curiously, I looked out the window, eager to see the town that would be my new home in Second Life.

I had a lot of questions in my mind:

Will they accept my inscription at WoodCrest University? What will the campus be like? Where and of what will I live?

Will I make friends there? This part might be difficult. I will have to be careful not to reveal my internship at Takeda Media. I think it wouldn’t be a good idea, if everyone on the campus knows I am working for a porn company.

This will remain my secret.

What the hell?

Isn’t it naive to go on a train to an unknown place without a home, money, or knowledge of whether I will be accepted?

Well, it’s too late for second thoughts: Here I am, getting off that train at Woodcrest Central station.

Woodcrest Central Train Station

I got my first delightful surprise here. At the station, Woodcrest supplies you with a mobile phone and a credit card with a balance of $50.

((It’s a roleplay hud and a local currency system independent from the Linden-Dollar))

You have a phone calendar that shows you the classes and events of the day. It’s very neat.

But first things first. In that order, I need to find the campus, get inscribed, find somewhere to stay, and check out employment opportunities.

Thank God Woodcrest has a bus system. I studied the map at the station and took a bus, which took me right to the campus entrance.

Easy peasy.

The campus is overwhelming. Its excellent architecture leaves you speechless. I walked around a little and found many small offices, a vast library, and classrooms.

Yet another pleasant surprise was how easy it was to get inscribed. I am now officially a student at Woodcrest University.

But the best was yet to come.

I was walking around town to find cheap accommodation or employment. There is a dorm—a student’s home—where you can get a room for little money. It’s better than nothing, though.

“Hi Alex, you look a bit lost, can I help you with anything?”

I got this IM out of the blue, walking through town.

The guy was the local doctor who ran a clinic in town. After talking, he offered to pay me for a little apartment in the city if I would sometimes work as a receptionist at the clinic.

Deal.

My new apartment is on the main street of Woodcrest, above some shops and across from a diner. Next to the building is a small motel, which looks a little shady, to say the least.

Resumen of my first day in Woodcrest:

✅ Getting starter money

✅ Inscription to Woodcrest University

✅ Accommodation sorted

✅ Job offer

It’s almost too good to be true, and as the saying goes, if it’s too good to be true, it usually is. But that might be the topic of another post. I keep you updated.
